Description from the seller

A leaf rescued from an early, but damaged, C19th Koran, scribed in Kashmir. The leaf contains scripture from chapter 2, Al-Baqarah (The Cow), v.103-107, which focus on matters of faith, the behaviour of the "People of the Book" (Jews and Christians) toward Muslims, the concept of divine abrogation of verses, and the absolute sovereignty of Allah. The verses serve to guide the early Muslim community in Medina regarding their interactions with the People of the Book, protecting the integrity of the Quran, and strengthening their faith in Allah's authority and guidance.

The verses are scribed in elegant naskhi script in black ink, within a rectangular box surrounded by solid gold trim. Several plain gold roundels mark out the verses. There are devotional markings in red providing guidance to the reader. The right marginal Juz decoration which spans the entire right margin of the script is both elaborate and attractive. In this case it marks the 105th verse of Chapter 2. A neat gold and red floral device embellishes the corner (top right).

This is well preserved and interesting leaf containing some prophetic scripture.
