Description from the seller
This book is the long-awaited survey of Paul Graham's pioneering achievements and his most important works from 1981 to 2006.
Paul Graham confronts the life he wants to capture with his camera. To document it, he continually revitalizes the medium and does not shy away from pushing genre boundaries: Graham worked as the first British representative of social documentary photography in color. With series such as A1 - The Great North Road (1981-1982) and Beyond Caring (1984-1985) he displaced black-and-white photography from its dominant position. Even in his more recent works, Graham breaks with viewing habits and challenges his viewers. a shimmer of possibility (2004-2007) shows everyday scenes in the USA and is also an attempt to influence the perception of time through flowing image sequences. The British photographer Paul Graham, born in 1956, has had solo exhibitions at, among others, the Tate Gallery, London, the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, and the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg; in 2009 MoMA, New York presented his works.
