Description from the seller
Lot Presentation:
Elegant double-body trumeau cabinet, made in Italy in the mid-20th century in perfect Louis XV style (Barocchetto). The furniture features a solid walnut structure, entirely veneered and enriched with refined inlays in maple and fruitwood.
Analysis of the Structure:
Upper Section (Display): Characterized by an undulating and broken entablature. The two doors feature central inlaid panels with “galante scene” motifs (figures in bucolic landscapes) surrounded by floral frames. Inside there are shaped shelves.
Central Section (Ribalta): The drop-front door, also richly inlaid with a central medallion, opens to reveal a small compartment with four tiny drawers and a central cavity. The writing surface is broad and functional.
Lower Section (Base): Follows the undulating line of the structure with three wide front drawers. The base ends with saber legs typical of the eighteenth-century style.
Technical Details and Condition:
Hardware: Original cast and chased bronze handles and escutcheons with rocaille motifs.
Condition: The piece presents in excellent vintage condition. The structure is solid. Minor and normal signs of wear on the polish and small superficial scratches consistent with its age are visible in the detail photos, which do not detract from its aesthetic value but attest to the period authenticity.
Keys: One functional key present
