AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Very beautiful and authentic Neolithic flint axe rough-out from the Oise (60), municipality of Hardivillers.
The quarries of the Oise and more particularly the municipality of Hardivillers are very well known and were exploited throughout the Neolithic in order to extract flint nodules that were used to manufacture axe preforms which were then exported and polished. This type of extraction is also found in the municipality of Troussencourt (Oise) as well as in Belgium at Spiennes.

Some recent flake remnants clearly show this important difference in patina due to the desilicification of the flint over time, shifting from violet-flint to whitish-flint.
