Description from the seller
Elegant antique ivory candlestick made from solid ivory, richly carved with classical decorative elements. (a part may be missing)
The candlestick rests on a tripod base with gracefully curved legs ending in refined scroll motifs. The central stem is executed as a fluted column, referring to classical architecture.
Just below the candle holder there is a decorative element with foliage ornamentation (acanthus motif), typical of late-19th-century decorative art. At the top there is a profiled candle holder with a ring-shaped edge in which a candle can be placed.
The ivory has developed a warm natural patina, with light discolorations and fine cracks that suit the age of the material.
