Buchara-Design – hand-knotted Oriental rug (runner)

This hand-knotted Oriental rug is executed in the classic Buchara design and features the geometrically strict ornamentation typical of this tradition. The narrow, elongated format emphasizes the clear structure of the pattern and makes the rug particularly suitable for hallways or narrow rooms.

The field is in a deep red and is dominated by a vertical row of regularly arranged, octagonal Gul medallions. These medallions are evenly repeated and form the central design element of the rug. The lighter inner drawings of the Gul motifs stand out distinctly from the darker ground and provide contrast as well as rhythmic depth.

Between the main medallions, finely worked geometric connection patterns run, visually structuring the field and emphasizing the runner’s linear character. The surrounding border consists of several narrow stripes with densely knotted geometric ornaments. It clearly frames the central motif and reinforces the traditional, closed overall impression.

The color palette of reds, creams, browns, and dark accent tones is typical for Buchara carpets from Pakistan and appears calm, balanced, and timeless.
