Centre table in solid walnut wood with hand-carved ornament in Renaissance style, dating to 1900–1910, overall 111 cm wide, 50 cm deep, 60 cm high, in good condition with a natural patina and minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Elegant solid walnut center table (or wall table) featuring rich hand-carved decorations that echo the Italian Renaissance mood. The piece stands out for its structural solidity and elegant proportions, making it a striking focal point in a room.
Main Features:
Top: Rectangular with a finely worked edge featuring dentellation or fine beading, which gives movement to the upper profile.
Supports (Legs): The two side supports, vase- or lyre-shaped, are masterfully carved with acanthus leaves, volutes, and a central rosette.
Base: The legs rest on sturdy lion’s-paw-style bases, a symbol of nobility and strength in period furniture.
Crosspiece: A shaped and carved crosspiece with a central medallion unites the two supports, ensuring structural stability and aesthetic continuity.
Conditions and Details:
The table is in generally good condition, with a magnificent natural patina that enhances the walnut grain.
There are a few signs of age and use consistent with its age (small superficial scratches on the top, as visible in the photo).
Technical notes: The structure is solid. Classic worm holes (now inactive) typical of antique solid-wood furniture are present, attesting to authenticity and age. A first restoration treatment was carried out with a woodworm treatment and a double application of oil.
The underside of the table reveals the artisanal worksmanship of the boards and the original reinforcements.
