Description from the seller
Tabletop / coffee table, Murano glass eglomisé, 1930s – Italy
- Style: Vintage
- Materials: Murano glass eglomisé / églomisé
- Period: 1930s
- Country of origin: Italy
- Provenance: Private collection
- Condition: Good for its age and use
- Tabletop dimensions: 2 x 180 x 90 cm.
Unique tabletop made in Murano glass, églomisé or eglomisé in vintage style. It features a soft yellow and gold tone, and the profile presents a multi-angled, beveled and polished design. The scroll and rocaille motifs are framed by a large gold border that runs along the entire surface. These decorations separate the golden center from the transparent edge.
It does not have supports or legs, so there are endless possibilities for customization. It could be used as a dining table or coffee table top; supported on crystal, marble or wrought iron legs; all according to the space’s style where it would be placed. It could even be used by adding a mirror to the reverse side to create an impressive wall mirror.
About the eglomisé glass technique:
Eglomisé glass is a decorative technique in which gold leaf or paint is applied to the back of a glass piece, to be viewed from the front through the glass. The term comes from the French “églomisé,” in honor of Jean-Baptiste Glomy, an 18th-century art dealer who popularized this technique, though its origin is much older. The process combines gold leaf, pigments, and often engraved or ornamental designs, creating bright, luxurious, and very delicate effects.
It was widely used in furniture, frames, mirrors, decorative objects, and interior architectural panels, especially in the 18th and 19th centuries. The final effect is elegant and sophisticated, ideal for adding visual richness to a space.
Shipping of the product will be paid by the buyer according to the dimensions, weight, and destination. We will contact you to arrange it and agree on the budget. Shipping costs include professional custom packing and personalized shipping, with tracking number and warranty. DUE TO THE DIMENSIONS AND THE FRAGILITY OF THE PIECE, IT IS PREFERRED TO ARRANGE THE SHIPMENT WITH THE BUYER. CURRENT COSTS ARE ESTIMATED. A CUSTOM WOODEN BOX WILL BE REQUIRED FOR SHIPPING.
The buyer will be responsible for paying import duties and associated taxes in the destination country, if any. Please note the seller's liability disclaimer regarding possible customs charges, as they are collected in the destination country and the amount due is determined by that country’s customs. If an export permit is required, the costs are borne by the buyer. The cost depends progressively on the value of the work to be exported.
