Description from the seller
Brionvega RR126 stereo console with turntable – Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni – Italy, circa 1966 – iconic Italian design
This concerns the early RR126 FO-ST version, one of the first production runs of this beautiful design.
An iconic piece of Italian design: the Brionvega RR126 stereo console, designed by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Brionvega in the 1960s. This model is regarded as one of the most recognizable and influential hi-fi designs in design history and is collected worldwide by design enthusiasts, architects and museums.
The modular design consists of a central unit with integrated turntable and two speakers that can be placed separately or stacked. This creates a sculptural object that is both functional and aesthetic – a true eye-catcher in any interior.
The RR126 has grown into a classic within Italian design of the 1960s and is part of important design collections. For example, a specimen is in the collection of artist David Hockney, and a piece from the David Bowie collection was recently auctioned for an exceptionally high price.
Specifications
• Model: RR126
• Manufacturer: Brionvega, Italy
• Design: Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni
• Period: circa the 1960s
• Version: ivory / cream
• Configuration: stereo console with integrated turntable
• Includes: original speakers and movable stand
Condition
In good vintage condition, commensurate with age.
The installation worked previously, but it currently needs to be checked because a wire has come loose, causing the system not to switch on. This will probably be easily remedied by a technician.
Other normal signs of use appropriate for the age. A few small pieces of wood are missing from some wooden edges (see photos). This is cosmetic and can be relatively easily restored or refinished if desired.
The turntable and original speakers are present.
Due to age, the electronics may benefit from a general service.
The photos are an integral part of the description.
