Description from the seller
Antique 23-piece coffee service - Cobalt blue with gold - Cherub relief - Neoclassical - Early 20th century
Antique coffee service consisting of 23 pieces: 1 ornate coffee pot with lid, 11 footed cups, and 11 matching saucers. This stunning set features a rich cobalt blue glaze adorned with lavish 24k gold-toned accents and beautiful 3D raised relief depicting classical cherubs/putti in the Neoclassical style.
Details:
Origin: Continental Europe (possibly Germany/Bohemia or France)
Period: ca. 1900-1930 (early 20th century)
Style: Neoclassical
Colour: Deep cobalt blue with 24k gold tones
Set includes:
1 large coffee/tea pot with lid (width: 14.5 cm, height: approx. 24 cm)
11 footed coffee cups (diameter: 6.5 cm, height: 8 cm)
11 matching saucers (diameter: 13.5 cm)
Design features:
Elaborate 3D cherub/putti relief decoration throughout
Ornate curved handles with gold accents
Sophisticated pedestal bases on both pot and cups
Refined gold gilding on rims, handles, and decorative elements
Classical Neoclassical motifs
Condition:
Good to very good vintage condition. The gold gilding is remarkably well-preserved with only minimal wear to the gilt edges on a few pieces. No chips, cracks, or repairs detected. Some age-appropriate characteristics present: crazing visible in the glaze of several saucers (typical for porcelain of this age), and minor production irregularities in the glaze. The 3D cherub relief decoration remains crisp and detailed throughout. Overall, an exceptionally well-maintained set considering its age.
Provenance:
Exact maker unknown due to faded mark. Dating and origin attribution based on stylistic analysis of the Neoclassical design, cobalt blue glazing technique, and cherub motifs typical of early 20th century Continental European porcelain manufacture.
