Description from the seller
Willy Daro style – Very rare table lamp – 85 cm – Agate Geode & Brass – Belgium – 1970-1979
This lot concerns a monumental and extremely rare rendition of an agate lamp, attributed to the Belgian master designer Willy Daro. While most lamps from this period are modest in size, this is a rare 'Grande' model with a total height of no less than 85 cm.
The Power of Nature:
• The centerpiece of this lamp is a huge, natural agate geode with an impressive weight of 11.2 kg.
• The stone is about 18 cm thick, providing a spectacular depth effect and a beautiful crystal cavity in the center.
• Unlike the thinner agate slices that are more common, this solid geode functions as a heavy sculptural object.
Construction and Design:
• The lamp is made of high-quality solid brass; the base alone weighs 2.5 kg.
• The fixture shows the typical flowing, organic lines that make Daro’s work so recognizable, with the brass rod presenting the stone to the viewer, so to speak.
• The lamp is equipped with a double fitting, which ensures powerful and even illumination of the crystals.
Condition and Details:
• Total weight: approx. 13.7 kg.
• Height: 85 cm.
• Condition: In good vintage condition with a beautiful, authentic patina on the brass.
