"GENESIS" was published to complement the world's most visited photo exhibition.
The captivating black-and-white photos by Sebastião Salgado that make up the GENESIS project show landscapes and people spared from the devastating onslaught of modern society. Salgado considers GENESIS as his “letter of love to the planet.”

The captivating black-and-white photos by Sebastião Salgado that make up the GENESIS project show landscapes and people spared from the devastating onslaught of modern society. Taken during an epic eight-year expedition, these photos are divided into 5 chapters, by geographic zones: At the ends of the South, Sanctuaries, Africa, Northern Lands, Amazon and Pantanal.
This edition was designed and produced by Lélia Wanick Salgado and pays homage to the GENESIS project.
These exceptional photos have earned him comparisons to Ansel Adams, one of the greatest photographers in history. Moreover, his mastery of monochrome and light is not without recalling the works of the great masters.
