Description from the seller
Antique Chinese Export Porcelain Plate (18th century)
An impressive and authentic blue-and-white porcelain plate (also known as a 'charger') from the Qing dynasty, probably dating to the Qianlong period (1736-1795)
The front is intricately hand-painted with a classic Chinoiserie landscape, consisting of a central river scene with pagodas, pavilions, trees and rock formations. The wide rim is richly decorated with floral motifs and geometric borders, typical of the high-quality export wares from this period.
The back shows the characteristic features of 18th-century porcelain, including an unglazed foot ring with iron-oxide discoloration and visible 'pinholes' in the glaze, evidence of the artisanal firing process of that era.
