Description from the seller
Beautiful set of four antique chairs executed in Louis XIV style, made of solid walnut wood. Dating: circa 19th century. The chairs are handcrafted with traditional mortise-and-tenon joints and richly endowed with unique hand-carved details. Small variations in the carving testify to authentic handwork and give each chair a special and rare character.
The seats have been reupholstered in the past and fitted with modern foam, which provides extra seating comfort. The current upholstery is neatly finished and in good condition.
The chairs were discovered in a historic house in Stabroek (Belgium). According to local history, the inn “De Groene Swaen” once stood here, a meeting place already mentioned in the region in the 17th century. It is not certain whether the chairs were connected to this inn, but their discovery in this historic building makes their story even more fascinating.
Condition:
Normal signs of use appropriate for age. Visible wear on the armrests and at the bottom of the legs, which fits long-term use.
- Sold as a set of four
- Ideal for collectors, classic interiors, or a stylish dining room
A characterful and authentic set that fits perfectly in a classic or historic interior.
