Miano Navigli, first edition hardback in Italian and English with text by Guido Lopez, signed by Fulvio Roiter on the title page, 140 pages of colour photography, CELIP Milano, 1994, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Exceptionally signed copy by Fulvio Roiter (1926 – 2016) on the title page, unavailable in a signed edition. 140 pages and nearly 120 color photographs, most full-page and some double-page. Text in English and Italian by Guido Lopez. Publisher’s gray cloth binding with a simulated linen texture, with the title stamped in relief on the back in white type and a illustrated dust jacket. In excellent condition.
The photographic work of Fulvio Roiter makes him one of the most important Italian photographers of the twentieth century and, in 2009, an exhibition and a book-catalogue “Dieci fotografi d’oro” (10 golden photographers) highlighted him alongside Gabriele Basilico, Giovanni Berengo Gardin, Mario Cresci, Mimmo Jodice, Franco Fontana, Guido Guidi and a few others.
The Navigli of Milan are a beloved place for Milanese residents and tourists from around the world, and have become a center of nightlife, but these canals run more than 90 kilometers long and cross the region from west to east and toward the south.
The Navigli have a history spanning several centuries. In fact, the construction of the first navigable stretch dates back to the second half of the 12th century, and more precisely in 1179, and Leonardo da Vinci designed for the Navigli the system of locks to overcome the problem of the difference in ground level and make navigation possible, sketching his project in a few drawings still preserved at the Navigli Museum. These canals played a crucial role in the development of Milan, enabling the movement of water and goods from the mountains to the Po plain, the richest region of Italy.

Book from my personal collection, in excellent condition (like new), kept with the greatest care. Very efficient and protected international postal tracking guaranteed. For multiple purchases, possibility of grouped shipment with refund of any excess postage paid via PayPal.
