Luxurious Italian bronze hanging chandelier dating from around 1700, with a heavy bronze body, 50 cm diameter and 60 cm height, hanging height up to 150 cm, weight 4 kg, antique gilded finish, acanthus leaf details, and in good used condition that is in working order.
Description from the seller
Hanging chandelier, a luxury specimen characterized by a solid bronze structure of exceptional sculptural quality. The design reflects the transition from the Louis XVI style to the Directoire: the central shaft features a refined fluted taper, while the scroll arms are adorned with hand-chiseled acanthus leaves, ending in floral corolla bobeches.
Period technical characteristics:
Finish: Fine antique gilding, which presents a deep brilliance and an unaltered original patina, a sign of a workmanship of the highest quality (fire-gilding).
Materials: Heavy bronze casting with details finished by hand chasing.
Authenticity Element: The lamp holders are made of turned wood, historical testimony of early electrification that preserved the aesthetic integrity of the original shaft designed for candle illumination.
Condition and Assembly:
The piece is in superb condition. The structure shows no modern welds or breaks. It is supplied with its original suspension chain of shaped links and a decorated apex ring. The electrical system, although historical, is easily inspectable thanks to the open-arm structure.
Dimensions and Placement:
Piece of great visual importance, ideal for representative reception rooms, historic palaces, or high-profile professional studios. An antique investment destined to appreciate in value over time.
