In “Reflejo Disuelto” (Dissolved Reflection), the viewer faces a work that pushes the limits of perception and identity. The scene, painted in oil with technical mastery, shows the body of a woman reclining on the shore, her skin bathed in the light and heat of the surrounding natural environment. Her posture, supported by her arms and slightly leaning back, conveys a mixture of rest and surrender to the moment. However, what surprises and captivates most is that her head is not visible; instead, the rippling, shining water reflects fragments of light and color, blurring her face in a game of mirages.
The artist uses the surface of the water as a secondary canvas within the painting itself. There, the fluid brushstrokes recreate a distorted reflection, as if the figure’s identity dissolves into the surroundings. This device not only adds a surreal dimension but also invites a deeper reflection on the changing nature of being and the fusion between body and landscape.
The green and blue tones of the water contrast with the warmth of the skin, creating a visual tension that highlights the figure. Submerged rocks and the sandy bed provide tangible realism, anchoring the composition to a recognizable physical space, while the ethereal reflection introduces an atmosphere of dreaminess.
The choice of the red bikini adds a focal point of color that breaks the chromatic harmony of the environment, guiding the gaze and adding a note of sensuality. Yet, this sensuality is not presented explicitly, but wrapped in a more poetic narrative, where the mystery of the hidden face enhances the intrigue.
“Reflejo Disuelto” is more than a figurative representation: it is a visual metaphor for the dissolution of the self in the natural environment, the moment when identity becomes pure sensation. A perfect work for collectors who appreciate contemporary art with conceptual depth, capable of engaging the viewer both aesthetically and emotionally. On Catawiki, its value lies in that duality between the real and the illusory, between technical precision and interpretive freedom offered by its enigmatic reflection.
