Description from the seller

Elegant Art Deco Inkpot (1920-1930) – "Animalier" Bronze Sculpture on Gray Marble

In the auction is a refined Art Deco-era inkpot dating to the first half of the 20th century (ca. 1920-1940). The piece is a magnificent example of the 'animalier' art, a genre very popular in the interwar period.

Main features:
Subject: A lively metal sculpture depicting three dog heads (including recognizable Terrier and Pekingese breeds) peering out from a finely worked woven basket.

Materials:
Solid base in fine, veined gray marble, with a front-facing pen rest. The sculpture and the ink pot are made of cast metal (bronze or regula) with a beautiful original brown patina that gives depth and realism to the details.

Ink pot:
Architecturally shaped ink container with an impeccably functioning hinged lid. Inside is the original glass stopper, a rare element to find intact.

Conditions:
Excellent vintage condition. The patina is original and shows the natural signs of aging that attest to its era. The marble is intact, with well-preserved edges (please view the photos which are an integral part of the description).

Dimensions and Weight:
Base: 18x12 cm
Total height: 10 cm
Weight: Very heavy (about 1.6 kg), ensuring stability and quality of materials.

A collectible piece ideal for enriching a classy desk or as an exclusive gift for dog lovers and connoisseurs of top-tier modern decorative arts."
