Description from the seller

Antique Walnut Display Cabinet with Original Wavy Glass – Germany – circa 1870

Beautiful antique display cabinet crafted in walnut veneer over solid softwood, dating to the second half of the 19th century (circa 1820–1870).

This elegant cabinet features a classic historicist design with a gently curved cornice, hand-carved decorative elements on the side pilasters and a warm walnut veneer with a striking natural grain pattern.

A particularly attractive feature of this piece is the original antique glass in the door. The glass shows characteristic irregularities, small bubbles and a slightly wavy surface typical of 19th-century cylinder glass, confirming its authenticity and age. Such original glass panels are increasingly rare and add significant historical value to the piece.

The door is divided into multiple panels by wooden glazing bars, allowing a beautiful display of objects inside. The cabinet interior contains several shelves made of solid wood and retains its original antique construction.

The back and interior are made from solid softwood boards, consistent with traditional cabinetmaking techniques of the period.

Decorative hand-carved wooden elements on the front corners enhance the character of the cabinet and reflect the craftsmanship typical of late 19th century European furniture workshops.

The cabinet stands on shaped feet and has developed a beautiful natural patina over time.

Condition
Good antique condition with normal signs of age and use. The cabinet retains its original antique glass with typical bubbles and irregularities. Minor wear and small marks consistent with age.

Dimensions
• Height: 175 cm
• Width: 98 cm
• Depth: 40 cm

This elegant antique cabinet is ideal as a display piece for porcelain, glassware, books or collectibles and will add authentic historical charm to any interior.
