Description from the seller

A luxurious desk clock composed of a rare Swiss “Ball Watch” pocket watch by Paul Breguette with an eight-day power reserve, suspended from an elegant putto (cherub) figure. The composition is crafted in gilt bronze (ormolu) and Rouge marble and dates to around 1900.
The entire piece is executed in a refined Neoclassical style inspired by Louis XVI, characteristic of decorative salon clocks produced at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The case bears maker’s hallmarks as well as assembly and serial numbers.

Movement signature: B365R4
Watch Case
Signed “Metal Dore” (gilt metal).
Watch Movement
Mechanical 8-day movement (“8 Jours”), requiring winding only once per week.
Dial:
• enamel dial
• dual 12-hour and 24-hour numerals
• small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock
Glass:
• double convex (spherical) glass on both sides
• producing a subtle magnifying lens effect.

Base / Figure
A finely cast gilt bronze (ormolu) putto figure, mounted on a column made of natural Rouge marble with decorative veining, combined with elements of Carrara marble.
The column is decorated with gilt bronze mounts in the form of garlands and vegetal motifs, emphasizing the elegant Neoclassical character of the composition.
