Description from the seller
Mirror “Nail” / “Lipstick”
– Italian Space Age design, 1970s
Iconic floor mirror known as the “nail mirror,” one of the most recognizable furniture accents of Italian design in the Seventies.
The “Unghia” mirror, designed around 1970, stands out for its vertical, slender silhouette, generally made of molded plastic (PVC or ABS) with an elliptical inset in mirror glass.
The elegant silhouette, reminiscent of the shape of a nail or a lipstick (“Lipstick”), has become a symbol of Space Age aesthetics, a movement in the Seventies that introduced fluid lines, synthetic materials and a strong futuristic sensibility to home furnishings.
This object perfectly embodies the philosophy of Italian design of that period: formal simplicity, functionality and a strong visual identity, qualities that have made this mirror a highly sought-after piece among modern design collectibles.
Thanks to its sculptural form, the mirror lends itself to being used as a decorative centerpiece in entrances, bedrooms or spaces with vintage, modernist or eclectic taste.
Characteristics:
• type: floor mirror / “nail” mirror
• period: the Seventies
• origin: Italy
• style: Space Age / mid-century modern
• construction: molded plastic material with mirrored insert
• line: sculptural vertical with elliptical opening
The object shows normal signs of age consistent with its era, bearing witness to its authenticity and history.
Adequate packaging and trackable shipping across Europe.
