Description from the seller

19th century primitive wooden chest featuring hand-cut dovetail construction and a rich, worn red-brown painted surface that has developed a warm, authentic patina over time. The rectangular form is reinforced with iron strap hinges and corner mounts, while sturdy iron ring handles on each side allow for practical transport.

The lid opens to a spacious interior with visible hand-planed boards and original hardware, reflecting straightforward utilitarian craftsmanship typical of rural storage chests of the period. A shaped iron escutcheon with key is present at the front, though the key no longer operates the lock.

Strong wear, surface marks, and oxidation to the iron elements contribute to the piece’s genuine character and historical appeal.

Measures approximately 38 cm long, 31 cm wide, and 25 cm high.
