Grand monstrance in silver and vermeil, Minerva 1st title standard mark (silver 950/1000) – France, 19th century – 79 cm
French 19th-century goldsmith's work bearing the Minerva 1st title mark (silver 950/1000).
Goldsmith attributed to the Armand Strauss workshops or Ettlinger & Cie.

Large silver and vermeil monstrance, resting on a pierced foot with rich decoration of scrolls and vegetal swirls. The base is adorned with life-size figures in the round, representing the Virgin and the blessing Christ.

The shaft, decorated with diamond-pointing, is rhythmically traversed by a baluster knot adorned with seeds and acanthus leaves. The quadrilobed monstrance holds the glass lunette and is set within a broad radiant glory composed of alternating rays, topped by a cross.
