Description from the seller
Imposing decorative brass brazier with a perforated design and a hammered copper basin and figurative knob – height 80 cm – mid-20th century
Description
A striking decorative brazier made of perforated brass with an inner hammered copper basin, datable to the mid-20th century.
The piece features an elegant and scenographic structure composed of a base with three zoomorphic feet, a wide inner hammered copper basin, and a large brass lid richly perforated with geometric and floral ornamental motifs.
The top of the lid is crowned by a figurative knob depicting a stylized female figure, a decorative element that gives the object a distinctive ornamental character.
Thanks to the wide perforations, heat and aromas could diffuse into the room. Objects of this type were used in homes as domestic coal braziers, in addition to their decorative function. The presence of the hammered copper inner basin and the perforated brass structure are typical of decorative productions from the Mediterranean and European area in the mid-20th century.
The large dimensions make this brazier a highly impressive decorative item, ideal even today as a furnishing element.
