Sakura Agate Sphere, a Madagascar-origin Sakura agate sphere with a 93.5 mm diameter and weighing 1148 g.
Description from the seller
From a selected block of Madagascar Sakura agate, this sphere reveals a unique natural palette: pinkish, cream and apricot tones intertwine with milky chalcedony bands and more translucent areas. The internal structure alternates silicified fragments, micro-crystallizations and wavy veins that recall suspended petals, giving rise to the name “Sakura” — a reference to cherry blossoms and their ephemeral beauty.
This variety of agate forms in silicic volcanic environments, where silica-rich hydrothermal fluids fill cavities and fractures in basalt rock. Over time, the rhythmic deposition of silica, iron oxides and trace elements creates complex patterns and multiple zoning. In this specimen, the presence of orange-coralline hues and micro-granular inclusions testify to variable geochemical cycles and slow, stratified crystallization.
Madagascar is known for producing some of the most diversified agate deposits in the world; the Sakura variety, however, remains one of the most sought after for its aesthetic rendering, rarity and unpredictability. Each sphere is a micro-landscape: suspended mineral fragments, concentric bands and milky brushstrokes that seem to capture the gesture of geological time. The carefully polished surfaces enhance the contrast between solid zones and micro-porosity, offering color depth and a natural three-dimensional effect.
An ideal object for collectors, natural-history cabinets and contemporary settings that appreciate clean forms and authentic materials. A sphere that unites mineralogy, organic aesthetics and volcanic memory, perfect for those seeking a piece rich in detail, geological history and character.
