Description from the seller
A fantastic piece: a portable Wilco turntable, model “Corallo,” a true jewel of Italian industrial design straddling the late 1960s and early 1970s. This device perfectly embodies Space Age style and the “Pop” culture of that era. It was designed for young people who wanted to carry music anywhere, somewhat like a predecessor of the iPod, but for 45 rpm records. It is an “slit” model. Instead of lifting a lid, you insert the record (usually a 45 rpm) directly into the front slot. The internal mechanism “eats” it and starts playback. The two wheels you see on the left are used to adjust Volume and Tone. The coral red color and the rounded shapes make it a very sought-after furnishing object today among modernist collectors. The battery compartment is clean and shows no signs of acid leakage. It operates from mains electricity. All controls and the loading and ejection of the record work.
