Description from the seller

Fantastic large Songye statue. While the sculpture is somewhat popular, it bears all the hallmarks of use. The horn is held in place by two old nails, and the abdominal load is fastened with a large antique European “trade” tack. Some parts ooze a thick, sticky oil. In my opinion, the neck cord was meant only to hang it on a nail on the wall, a behavior quite common in old collections...
Height: 58 cm.

Seller's Story

PRIMITIVE ART IN GENERAL, ESPECIALLY AFRICAN. ORIGINATING FROM PRIVATE COLLECTIONS OR ACQUIRED AT PROFESSIONAL GALLERIES OR INTERNATIONAL AUCTIONS.
