Description from the seller

Italy. 19th Century
Elegant and refined maiolica plate hand-painted, produced in the first half of the nineteenth century by an old Italian workshop from Castelli d’Abruzzo or Naples, with a pastoral scene at the center and a border richly adorned with flowers and putti.
The central scene shows a peasant woman milking a cow, entertained by a male figure playing the flute. The two figures are set in a soft, sunlit hilly landscape among trees and a blue sky. The border is rich in decorative elements with flowers, cherubs, scrolls and shells, elaborated through vivid colors and enamels. The two putti are modeled in a Baroque-inspired style and reprise the prototypes of the Grue and Gentili workshops.
On the back the plate shows a small but insignificant glaze defect, as in the attached photo, and the workshop mark, painted in blue under glaze, with two crossed letters (an A with a D ?) surmounted by a crown.

Diameter: 18.5 cm

The plate will be carefully packed and shipped by courier.
