Description from the seller
Louis XV style mantel clock – gilded bronze and rosewood veneer – mechanical pendulum movement – France, late 19th century
Description
Superb Louis XV style mantel clock, made in France toward the end of the 19th century.
This elegant decorative piece stands out for its animated and refined silhouette typical of the Rococo style, richly adorned with gilded bronze appliques finely chiseled, representing botanical motifs and scrolls.
The case is made of wood with veneer in a beautiful mahogany tone, perfectly highlighting the decorative bronze elements. The circular white enamel dial is adorned with blue Roman numerals and elaborately openworked Louis XV-style hands.
The clock is equipped with a mechanical pendulum movement with hour and half-hour strike, visible from the back. The mechanism has undergone minor maintenance and adjustment interventions to ensure proper and stable operation.
With its elegant proportions and decorative presence, this clock is a fine collectible and decorative piece for a classic interior or a cabinet of antique clock enthusiasts.
This is, of course, an antique object, more than a century old.
The clock thus shows slight signs of time and small imperfections related to its age, such as fine signs of wear or slight veneer and bronze wear. These details are normal for a piece from this period and contribute to its authenticity and charm.
Overall, the clock is in good condition and in working order.
