Magnificent and extremely rare antique lamp crafted in solid sterling silver (925) in Sheffield, England, in 1899. This remarkable piece stands as a testament to the excellence of late 19th-century English silversmithing.
The lamp is designed in the form of an imposing Corinthian column, richly hand-embossed and chased, with decorative motifs of amphorae and ribbons on the base. The column is crowned with an elegant glass globe, creating a refined and imperial presence.
Weighing an impressive 4.8 kg, this lamp is a massive and monumental object, reflecting the prestige and luxury associated with the great English silver workshops of the Victorian era. Hallmarks of the silversmith and sterling silver marks are struck on the base.
