Description from the seller

A manuscript folio from a Koran originating in the state of Bihar, India, circa 1425, a prosperous state, lying south of Nepal close bordering the Ganges river, became Muslim in the 12th century originally under the Bengal Governors.

This folio contains verses 131-134 from Meccan chapter 20, Ta-Ha, which provide guidance on maintaining spiritual focus, contentment, and steadfastness in the face of worldly temptations and opposition to the message of Islam. These verses advise the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the believers not to be envious of the temporary luxuries given to disbelievers, to prioritize prayer, and to understand that the ultimate success lies in piety.

The script is written in a unique cursive style called 'Bihari' which was used by India Qur'ans between the late C14th-C16th. The scripts main features re wide, extended horizontal lines and more delicate verticals. Decorative aya in gold separate the verses of the scripture. It is in remarkable condition given its age.

Please note that shipping costs are not solely the cost of the postal delivery service itself. Included within the shipping price is the work undertaken to prepare the article, for photography, for uploading to Catawiki, for preparation and packaging the article securely and for transporting the article to the postal delivery agent for processing.
