Description from the seller
Large and elegant oval enamelled cast-iron pot Cousances No. 28, made in France.
The Cousances brand, founded in Haute-Marne, was one of the great French cast-iron culinary manufacturers before being integrated into Le Creuset, of which it today constitutes one of the historical lines most sought after by cooking enthusiasts and collectors.
This pot features the famous volcanic/cerise gradient red, a signature of French productions from the second half of the 20th century.
Its generous oval shape (No. 28) is ideal for large preparations: poultry, roasts, stews, or family cuisine.
Features
Brand: Cousances (Le Creuset group)
Model: oval casserole
Number: 28
Origin: France
Period: 1970s-1980s
Material: enamelled cast iron
Color: volcanic red / cerise
Dimensions
Length: 36 cm
Width: 23 cm
Height: 15 cm
Weight: about 5 kg (without packaging)
Condition
Good vintage condition with normal signs of use:
5 enamel chips on the rim of the lid (visible in the photos).
A few small chips on the rim of the pot.
Signs of use and slight patina related to the normal use of an antique pot.
These marks are superficial and do not affect the solidity or functionality of the pot.
Enamelled cast-iron pots are renowned for their excellent heat diffusion and retention, enabling slow, even cooking ideal for stews.
Thanks to the enamel, the iron is protected against oxidation and maintenance remains simple. These utensils are known for exceptional durability, which is why many antique pieces are still perfectly functional today.
Cousances / Le Creuset productions are among the world references in cast-iron cooking and are particularly valued by traditional cuisine enthusiasts and design-focused collectors.
Careful and protective shipping
