Description
They were placed on one of the hooks of the balance and the piece to be weighed on the other; they were used until the adoption of the metric decimal system, which is the legal standard of weights and measures in Spain, officially adopted by law on July 19, 1849 under the reign of Isabel II, although its full implementation took decades due to resistance to traditional measures.
The 1 measures 20 cm long, weighs 3,700 g, with marks on the ring.
The 2 measures 13 cm, weighs 350 g. Two initials engraved on the handle are visible, possibly of its owner.
The 3 measures 11 cm and weighs 380 g.
The 4 measures 14 cm and weighs 315 g.
