Wall-mounted coat rack in solid walnut, circa 1930–1940, in Antique Neo-Renaissance style with a carved central body, overall dimensions 153 cm wide, 31 cm high, 22.5 cm deep, and a weight of 13.4 kg; originating from Tuscany, Italy, and in good used condition with minor age marks and small white paint residues on the side.
Description from the seller
Elegant and imposing wall coat rack (or entryway) made of solid walnut wood, finely hand-carved. The piece stands out for its rigorous, architectural design, typical of the Italian Neo-Renaissance taste of the late nineteenth century.
Details Artistic and Constructive:
Central Body: Characterized by a sequence of six embossed square panels, each adorned at the center with a generous turned wooden knob, functional and decorative.
Moldings: The edge is enriched by a cornice with "dentelli" or beadwork frieze that runs along the entire perimeter, giving a solid and monumental appearance.
Terminals: The upper and lower ends feature architectural elements with carving of foliage and volutes, recalling classical capitals.
State of Preservation: The item is in generally good condition for its age. It presents a splendid natural patina of the wood. There are slight signs of wear and small residues of white paint on the side (as visible in the detail photos), easily removable with conservative cleaning. On the back are the original metal hooks for wall mounting.
First restoration intervention carried out with application of anti-termite treatment and oil.
