Description from the seller
Ancient jewelry box in gilded régule with enamel miniature under glass, Belle Époque era (circa 1900).
Elegant small antique box in gilded régule dating from the late 19th century or the early 20th century, Belle Époque period.
The box features a finely worked raised decoration of garlands, ribbons and neoclassical motifs all around the body, typical of French decorative production of that era.
The lid is adorned in its center with an enamel miniature representing the portrait of a young woman, protected under glass. This type of portrait, inspired by 18th-century aesthetics, was highly appreciated in luxury objects and women’s accessories of the Belle Époque.
The interior is lined with blue fabric, providing a nice contrast with the exterior gilding. The base bears the mark "Déposé", indicating a protected model.
This box could serve as a jewelry box, candy box, or powder box and today constitutes a beautiful decorative or collectible object.
Overall good condition with signs of use related to age. Note a crack visible on the glass protecting the enamel miniature; see photos – they are part of the description.
