The present volume publishes for the first time the so-called “last sketchbook” by Jackson Pollock, which was created in the artist’s final years and provides an immediate insight into his working method and his drawing experiments. The reproduced sheets show spontaneous studies, line compositions and abstract form-finding that document Pollock’s characteristic engagement with movement, rhythm and gestural drawing and at the same time make the transition from sketch to painterly expression comprehensible.
