The Ferrari F40 is a sports car produced by the Italian car manufacturer Ferrari, heir to the Ferrari 288 GTO Evoluzione, produced between 1987 and 1992 (for the last examples called "F40 GTE"), whose successor was the F50.
The design of the bodywork was created by the Pininfarina studio by Aldo Brovarone, Leonardo Fioravanti and Pietro Camardella under the guidance of Nicola Materazzi, to whom the project was entrusted, designing the engine, gearbox and other mechanical parts of the car. Materazzi also had previously designed the bodywork of the 288 GTO Evoluzione, from which the F40 borrows numerous stylistic traits.
