A single Art Déco verre vase from France, attributed to André Delatte, standing 41 cm high with a 7 cm base diameter and 11 cm width, in layered marmoreal glass with terracotta, burnt orange and ochre tones, and in good condition with minor age wear.
Description from the seller
This vase is an authentic piece from the famous André Delatte workshop, founded in Nancy in the 1920s. It is a fine example of work on multi-layered glass, typical of the Nancy school, although Delatte distinguished himself with a style often more restrained than his contemporaries such as Gallé or Daum.
Here is a detailed description based on your visuals and the dimensions provided:
Silhouette and Shape
The vase features a so-called "soliflore" form, particularly slender.
• The neck: Very long and narrow (cylindrical), it emphasizes the verticality of the object.
• The body: It is oval or "teardrop"-shaped, offering a striking contrast with the slender neck.
• Dimensions: With a height of 41 cm and a base of only 7 cm, the piece has a sculptural and graceful, almost architectural, appearance.
Visual aspect and Material
The work with material is characteristic of the Art Deco period:
• Colors: The vase wears a warm robe in terracotta tones, burnt orange and ochre. One observes a speckling or interleaved colored powders effect, creating a visual texture reminiscent of natural stone or a nebula.
• Finish: The surface seems to have a satin look, probably obtained by an acid treatment, which gives the glass that peach-skin feel and this soft diffusion of light.
