Eugene Grasset - Enchantement

Eugène Grasset designed the illustrated cover for the sheet music of Jules Massenet's song (melody) titled "Enchantement". The music, with lyrics by Jules Ruelle, was released around 1890-1892 by the Parisian publisher Heugel et Cie.

The sheet has stains, has yellowed, and has been folded. But thanks in part to the high-quality framing behind museum glass, it is very attractive.

Grasset's design is a well-known example of the Art Nouveau style and is regarded as a decorative work of art in its own right. The illustration depicts a fairy-tale, ethereal image that perfectly suits the romantic music of Massenet. The original artwork is, among other places, exhibited at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
