Palanquin, a documentary photography print attributed to Emile Frechon (XIX), dated 1900, gelatin silver print, 22 × 28 cm, condition TTB, unsigned.
Description from the seller
Circa 1900, 21x27 cm.
"Palanquin" (transport of woman), a very beautiful print attributed to Emile Frechon (late 19th/early 20th century).
Very good gelatin-silver print, in very good condition, free (not mounted, rare), and a very beautiful preservation of contrasts and levels of detail.
Will be shipped with its sleeve and its cardboard support on neutral pH (ideal for a collection in good condition).
Émile Frechon (1848–1921) was a French photographer active in North Africa, notably in Biskra.
He is distinguished by his scenes of life and his portraits, blending documentary gaze and aesthetic sense.
Close to pictorialism, he works light and composition with great finesse.
His work moves away from simple exotism toward a more humane and nuanced vision.
A small PR conservatoire, not to be missed.
