De Akai HX-1 is een eenvoudige stereo cassettedeck uit het midden van de jaren 80 met een 2-kops systeem, geschikt voor opname en weergave van cassettebandjes met Dolby B ruisonderdrukking.
Hij ondersteunt verschillende bandtypes (normaal, CrO2 en metaal) en biedt een frequentiebereik tot circa 17 kHz, wat zorgt voor degelijke geluidskwaliteit binnen het instapsegment.
