Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
French maiolica plate attributed to Moustiers, dating to circa 1750–1800, with a diameter of 31.5 cm, height 3 cm, width 25 cm and depth 25 cm, in good used condition with signs of age.
Description from the seller
French 18th-century tin-glazed faience plate, attributed to Moustiers
Elegant 18th-century enamelled faience plate, characterized by high decorative quality and refined pictorial execution, attributed to the French production from the Moustiers area.
The shape has a swept, lobed profile, typical of 18th-century production, enriched by a decoration entirely hand-painted with ornamental motifs in reserve and stylized grotesques, harmoniously distributed both at the center and along the rim.
The decoration, developed in tones of iron yellow and green ramina on a white tin-glazed ground, highlights an extremely balanced composition, with a central geometric medallion surrounded by stylized vegetal elements and ornamental motifs repeated along the edge, creating an aesthetically elegant and coherent whole.
On first inspection the object might recall the productions of the Real Factory of Caserta for affinity of taste and decorative repertoire; however, a more in-depth analysis reveals stylistic and chromatic characteristics more consistently attributable to the French school, and with good probability to the Moustiers area or related manufactories.
The dimensions are about 25 cm in diameter and 3 cm in height.
The condition is good for its age, with signs of time, light wear and small imperfections in the glaze consistent with artisanal workmanship and the age of the piece, elements that attest to its authenticity and charm.
An object of great decorative elegance, ideal for European maiolica collectors or for rooms with a classic and refined taste.
The photos are an integral part of the description. Guaranteed careful packaging entrusted to professionals in the field.
