Moneda representativa de los inicios de la República de Panamá, emitida poco después de la separación de Colombia. En el anverso figura el retrato de Vasco Núñez de Balboa, explorador y conquistador español, rodeado por el lema nacional. El reverso muestra el valor nominal de la moneda con un diseño limpio y claro.
