The surface is richly decorated with extensive Richelieu embroidery, executed by hand with remarkable precision. Floral garlands, scrolling volutes and carefully cut openwork sections create a sophisticated interplay of texture and light across the entire cloth.

A sequence of openwork medallions filled with needle lace (Venetian point) enhances the composition. These inserts display raised, sculptural threadwork characteristic of high‑quality mid‑20th‑century Portuguese craftsmanship, adding depth, refinement and a sense of luxury to the piece.
