Snuff box - Silver - Filigree

Antique solid filigree Silver snuff box,
Silver mark with a pelican, (please see photos for correct impression).

NOTE: Sterling Silver Recognition: The piece has been officially tested by the Portuguese Assay Office. The pelican symbol guarantees that the metal is silver with the minimum legal purity (usually 833 or 835 thousandths), the historical standard in Portugal.
This specific symbol (the pelican) is used for pieces that have entered the Assay Office already as antiques or objects of artistic interest, often due to the lack of original marks or because they were manufactured more than 50 years ago. Portuguese filigree were very popular luxury items in the first half of the 20th century. The fact that it features a pelican enhances the piece, as it sets it apart from modern reproductions and certifies it as an object with history.
