Description from the seller
A photobook by Miyako Ishiuchi. This is a revised and expanded edition of Endless Night Streets (1981), one of her early trilogy.
Focusing on former red-light districts and ex-brothel areas, the work captures in black and white the surfaces of streets, walls, and buildings. It emphasizes tactile qualities—decay, scars, and dampness—rendering them almost palpable.
In contrast to the impulsive, private gaze of the original edition, the presence of the human subject recedes here. Instead, the city itself emerges as an entity imbued with memory and time.
Condition: Fine. Signed by Ishiuchi.
