Description from the seller
Title: Sterling silver 925 Creamer in the shape of a bull – bee motif – lion passant marks – England, late 19th-early 20th century (159 g)
Description:
Superb creamer (cream pourer) in sterling silver shaped like a bull, a rare sought-after model among collectors of “bull creamers” inspired by English classics of the 18th century (such as John Schuppe).
British piece (England), late 19th - early 20th century (Victorian or Edwardian). Sterling silver 925/1000 with visible hallmarks: lion passant (standard sterling), and other marks under the belly and on the hooves (probably leopard’s head for London, date letter and maker).
Details:
• Hollow body, lid hinged on the back with a functional hinge
• Finial in the form of a bee in relief on the lid (rare elegant variant of the traditional fly)
• Curved tail used as a handle
• Pour from the mouth
• Weight: 159 g (pure silver content: approx. 147 g, current metal value ~€300 at spot rate)
• Approx. dimensions: length 12-13 cm, height 8-9 cm
Beautiful period patina. Overall good condition but one rear leg is broken/detached (simple repair by welding by a silversmith).
Careful shipment with tracking and insurance. Possibility of additional appraisal upon request.
