Description from the seller

Aural Exciter Type B is an audio processor that enhances the quality of recordings without saturating the signal.

This processor allows adjustments in Tune, Harmonics and Drive, and has an frequency response of 10 Hz to 38 kHz, with a dynamic range of 120 dB. The Aural Exciter has been used in recording studios and is known for its ability to improve presence and the acoustic feel of recordings and make voices sound more "airy".
Improves faded recordings, especially analog tape recordings that have lost their "shine" due to repeated overdubbing.
Restore old recordings by simulating the lost spectral content.
As an audio enhancement for hardware and software media players..
Since its introduction the Aphex Aural Exciter Type B has been used on numerous successful albums, movies and radio stations worldwide, contributing to its reputation as a significant audio enhancement device. Users appreciate its ability to provide a dramatic improvement in audio quality at a relatively low cost, making it a valuable addition to any audio setup. It is a very well-built, easy-to-use device, with many interesting applications and areas to explore in the studio, the tape duplication room and in sound reinforcement operations. It was gratifying to see the manufacturers have made the device easily compatible with operation at -10 dBV, which is the operating level most people in home recording will use. At the same time, it is easily switchable for professional +4 dBV level.
Aphex operates on the principle of generating, within its circuits, fourth and fifth harmonics of the input signal that are mixed back with the input signal at the output. The harmonic structure of each sound or instrument is therefore reinforced, allowing it to stand out from others. This is manifested in a perceived increase in clarity or a rise in treble without a measurable increase in level.
Manufactured in the United States in the years 1983-1985
Works perfectly, although it shows external signs of use.
