DESCRIPTION
Pagan-era Buddha statue from Burma (Myanmar). It is depicted with legs crossed on a flat surface, the right hand in bhumisparsha mudra, bearing witness to the earth. He is dressed in a simple short garment, with no other accessories. The elongated earlobes frame the face, the lips and nose have a sharp, angular appearance. His head is proportionally smaller than the body and is covered with curls.
