Description from the seller

“Burning Bush” (The Bush in Flames), but in its theological and iconographic form developed in the Russian Orthodox tradition.
Center: The Virgin with the Child (Theotokos), within a circle.

Star-shaped form (double diamond): symbolizes the bush that burns without being consumed.

Colors:

Red / gold → divine fire.

Dark / green-black → the bush (creation).

Four angels in the corners → represent heavenly forces or elements (sometimes also the Evangelists in more complex interpretations).

Stars within the figure → divine presence, mystery.

This icon connects two key ideas:
The biblical episode of Moses (Exodus 3):
the burning bush that is not consumed → the presence of God.

Christian interpretation:

The Virgin Mary is the “burning bush”

Contains God (Christ) without being consumed
→ symbol of the Incarnation

In Russian it is known as:

“Neopalimaya Kupina” (Neopalimaya Kupina)
= “The bush that does not burn”

Classical Russian composition

Warm palette with visible craquelure
Simple drawing of angels
